Launch of Intel core ultra 200V series processor : Lunar lake
Recently Intel has released it's Core 200V series processor code named "Lunar lake" on September 3rd,2024. According to the company, this is going to power AI PCs and support up to 50% upgradation in graphics performance. It will consume 40% less power than their predecessors. It is expected that this will be excellent processor for a AI PCs which will ensure faster performance of the previous generation. Recently AI become one of the important needs for the new generation in order to automate and increase productivity with less effort and more efficiently.
Michelle Johnston Holthus, executive vice president and general manager of the client computing group said " With breakthrough power efficiency, the trusted compatibility of x86 architecture and industries deepest catalog of software enablement across the CPU, GPU and NPU. We will deliver the most competitive joint client hardware and software offering in our history with lunar lake and Copilot+. "
With this new processor, Laptops qualify the criteria for Copilot+ . PCs should have the following features to called as Copilot+ according to Microsoft :
- RAM of 16 GB
- Storage of 256 GB SSD/UFS
- NPU which is capable of 40 TOFS (Trillion operations per second) atleast.
What's new about Lunar Lake processor ??
- Lunar Lake launched in the Q3 of 2024, this processor will be used 18 new laptop designs across more than 20 different companies. Intel said that they are targeting on theme and light laptops for this processor.
- This will be more power efficient that has client by the company that it will use 40% less power which will help in reducing power consumption and enabling long runtime of laptop.
- This this processor will power AI PC laptops , AI PC laptops are those having a central processing unit(CPU) and graphics processing unit(GPU) and then neural processing unit (NPU). This all three walk together to make AI task faster and more accurate. The NPU is specifically used for handling machine learning and AI instead of sending the data for processing to the cloud. This will surely make AI performances more faster more easier and more efficient.
- As per the official website,company has claimed that this new processor will be more faster that is it will be able to perform 40 NPU Tera operations per second (TOPS) .
- Lunar lake will provide improved security, more battery life and faster AI processing and performances. This will surely assist and enhance AI PC experience for content creation,gaming, streaming and collaboration with videos and others.
- Intel has tested for 23 games and claims that it is faster than the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-84-100 and 16% faster than the AMD Ryzen AI Chipset for gaming according to Intel.
- Lunar lake enhanced ray tracing unit and XeSS , this will provide high frame rates and will make games more enjoyable.
How launch of lunar lake will influence Intel stock ?
Intel stock is having ups and downs this days. All experts are waiting to analyse the effect of newly launched Lunar Lake processor which has been launched on Tuesday, 3rd sept 2024, at IFA through a presentation. CEO Pat Gelsinger, recently in a conference addressed the market situation.
"It's been a difficult few weeks. And with that we've been working hard to address the issues and at earnings we were determined to lay out a clear view, right, of where we were, but also some of the next steps that we needed to address for the next phase of our strategy. And obviously, the market didn't respond positively. We understand that, and we're taking seriously what the market's telling us, and hearing that clearly. But we're also staying very focused on delivering and executing on the large number of the things that we laid out."
Market release date of Lunar Lake laptops ?
Lunar Lake laptop will be available for pre-orders from 3rd September 2024 and it will be available on physical stores at different global retailers from the 24 September 2024.
